Karnataka is home to some of the most exquisite and ancient temples of India which have survived after hundreds and even thousands of years. Every temple is unique, intricate and has mastered engineering design and architecture. It was extremely difficult for us to choose which temples to feature!
One of the most famous dances of Karanataka is Yakshagana!
Yakshagana: Dance of Karnataka
Yakshagana is a traditional dance form which came from the Vaishnava Bhakti Movement, depicting stories from the Hindu epics including the Ramayana and Mahabharata. The footwork, body movements, gestures and facial expressions of the actors in a performance visually aid the comprehension of the play. During the battle sequences, the dance is swift and intense. Performers jump high in the air and twirl vigorously without losing their physical balance, stamina and rhythm.

Taste of Karnataka Cuisine
What comes to mind when you think of the cuisine of Karnataka? Perhaps it's the coffee culture of Chikmagalur and Coorg. Some others may recall slathering benne (sesame seeds)
over crumbly idlis and gossamer dosas, or the fragrant sweetness of coconut that invariably enters almost anything edible.
Today we've prepared a list of some of our favorites that comes to mind!
1. MYSORE MASALA DOSA
The Mysore masala dosa is another form of dosa with chutney or paste applied to it. It is a crisp dosa with red chutney and mashed potato filling in it. The dosa is served with white and red coconut chutney along with sambar.
2. MANGALORE BUNS
Mangalore buns are sweet fried bread made with mashed bananas, flour, sugar and spiced with a touch of ground cumin. These sweet banana buns or poori as they are known is a specialty dish from the Mangalore region in Karnataka.
3. BISI BELE BHATH
Bisi Bele Bhath is one of the most popular foods from Karnataka. It is a blend of rice, lentils, vegetables and spices, all cooked together to create a flavorful dish. It is often served with generous helpings of ghee and potato chips or boondi. Bisi means hot in Kannada and hence this dish is best eaten piping hot.
4. SAGU
Sagu is a form of vegetable curry that is served with dosa, roti, rice, Rava idli and poori. Sagu has a creamy texture acquired from coconut and poppy seeds!
5. MYSORE PAK
Mysore Pak is a simple but very famous sweet that is popular all across India. Mysore Pak is typically made from three ingredients - Besan (Gram Flour), Ghee and sugar. The texture of the sweet feels rich due to besan and ghee. The sweet is widely distributed especially during Diwali.
